I’ve been working with my tuning forks for a number of years now. The mental and physical health benefits are remarkable. You can change your brain waves with tuning forks, which helps treat ADHD, anxiety, depression, and more. But an alternate use is activating and toning the Vagus nerve. This lowers your cortisol levels instantly, boosts immunity, improves digestion, and soothes the nervous system.
What is the Vagus Nerve?
This nerve runs from your brain to your large intestine. The most important role of the Vagus nerve is controlling your parasympathetic nervous system. Most modern lifestyle has us living in constant flight or fight mode, and that is precisely what the vagus nerve governs. Stress and aging shrink the Vagus nerve. Stimulating this nerve is the key to ‘rest and digest’ mode. It creates a signal to your brain that you are safe. This lowers cortisol levels and creates happy hormones to help you sleep, digest, and even age better.
Weighted Tuning Forks For Vagus Nerve Activation

These are the forks I use the most. They are called weighted tuning forks, or simply “body tuners”. The process is incredibly simple: you activate a fork so it resonates and place it on your collarbone, thymus, or tailbone. There are number of other points such as top of your head, third eye, jaw bone, or the bone behind your ear. But these points may be more sensitive, especially if you’ve had extensive dental work done. I prefer to use my thymus and collarbone points.
You then let the fork resonate and echo on your bone until it stops. I usually do it around 3-5 times. Sometimes I do it before bed, especially if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. This releases nitric oxide in your blood which in turn oxygenates your blood, lowers blood pressure, improves the immune system boosts overall cardiovascular health by preventing arterial stiffness and reducing inflammation. Great side effects!
I also use crystal attachments on my weighted forks, as it helps slide the fork on the body more easily. They are called “gem feet” from Biosonics. The ones I use the most are lapis lazuli, amber, and prehnite. Not only are you working with the energy of the crystal, but you are toning your nervous system with the vibration of the tuning fork. Sound and crystals work together synergistically.

As fas as I know, Biosonics is the only company selling these. I bought mine about six years ago and have never stopped using them. They are my steady miracle workers. I also do occasional sound healing sessions and always bring these with me.
If you’re not looking to invest in tuning forks right now, alternate ways to activate the Vagus nerve include: breathwork, humming or toning, singing, cold water therapy, exercise, and even massage. But the most rapid method I have found is using my tuning forks together with vocal activation, humming together with the forks.
